In-situ honing and deglazing provide a highly cost-effective solution for clients with vessels in dry dock or anchorage. By eliminating the need to transport equipment to and from a workshop, this method reduces logistical complexities and minimizes risks, delays, and travel time.

Why Choose In-Situ Honing?

  • Minimize Downtime:
In-situ services streamline operations by reducing the number of parties involved, saving time and avoiding unnecessary delays.
  • Cost Efficiency:
With fewer logistical steps and reduced risk, you save on both labor and operational costs.
Expertise in Honing Technology

Our team is fully trained by ChrisMarine to operate their Hon2x honing machine, offering honing services for cylinder liners ranging from 500mm to 1000mm in diameter, with stroke lengths of up to 4 meters. The typical honing time for a 900mm diameter liner, depending on its condition, is approximately 4 to 5 hours.

Hon2x Setup and Operation

  • Mounting Options:
The Hon2x tubular rig can be installed either via a mounting ring on the liner (Figure 1) or directly onto the engine using stud bolts (Figure 2). This rig provides support for the honing machine and hoist during the process.
  • Precision Honing:
Using a variable eight-arm honing head, our team can correct the shape of cylinder liners. We use a wide range of honing stones—ranging from fine, rough, to diamond—ensuring compatibility with different liner materials and surface finish requirements.
  • Eco-Friendly Reuse of Honing Liquid:
The honing liquid used in the process is collected beneath the cylinder liner and pumped back for reuse, reducing waste and ensuring an efficient workflow.
