Wind Turbine Installation Vessel’s Jack case housing-13 Sep 2023
Seatrium Limited is constructing a Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) for deployment at the Empire Wind farms. The vessel is based on a breakthrough design jointly developed with their customer Maersk Supply Service and this next generation WTIV is designed with capabilities to handle larger capacity wind turbines in near future.
Machining tolerances play a crucial role in equipment as they define the allowable variation in dimensions and physical properties of a manufactured part. Maintaining tight tolerances is vital to ensure the accuracy, performance, and reliability of a product.
To achieve the stringent tolerance, customized jig and fixture were designed to achieve consistency and repeatability in multiple in-situ equipment setups. After months of reiterate discussions and trials, our team has finally commenced the machining of the jack case housing in Seatrium Tuas Boulevard Yard.
2 sets of customized jig and fixture with 8 sets of boring machines were deployed to site to achieve the short turnaround time allocated for the machining phase.
